The Family Court directs that contact should be supervised when it considers this is necessary to keep children safe.

Where do contact visits happen?

Stephen’s Place in West London, three minutes’ walk from Ravenscourt Park tube. Stephen’s Place is a specially designed children’s centre, with three themed rooms and toys and games for all ages.

It is a safe place for children to come to.  We have a secure waiting area, security staff and an alarm system linked to the police.

Do parents have to see each other?

We arrange for parents to arrive and leave at different times so they do not have to see each other.  For this reason, it is important to keep to the times we give you for a visit.

What happens on a contact visit?

A contact supervisor remains with the children at all times, so that the children can feel safe. The supervisor watches how a parent and their children play with each other, makes sure the children are well looked after, and if necessary helps them do activities together.  We can also supervise visits outside, when this is arranged and agreed in advance.  Supervisors keep written notes of each session, to help in making decisions.

When do visits happen?

Usually after school for school-age children.  For younger children visits can be during the day.  Visits also take place on Saturdays.

How can I prepare my child for contact?

Talk to your child about the visit before you go: when it is, where it is, and who will be there. You could show them our pages about the children’s centre, Stephen’s Place, and the activities they can do there.
